Berlin Papyrus
An ancient Egyptian text dating from around 1300 BCE demonstrating that ancient Egyptians could solve second-order algebraic (quadratic) equations.
Herodianic Numerals
The ancient Greek base 10 numeral system, also known as Attic numerals, fully developed by about 450 BCE.
Thales' Theorem
A geometric theorem stating that if a triangle is drawn within a circle with its longest side as a diameter, the opposite angle will always be a right angle.
Three Classical Problems
Three ancient Greek geometric problems to be solved purely using a straightedge and compass: squaring the circle, doubling the cube, and trisecting an angle.
Lune of Hippocrates
A geometric figure developed by Hippocrates of Chios during the 5th Century BCE as a contribution toward solving the problem of squaring the circle.
Method of Exhaustion
An early integration technique of successive approximations used to compute volumes and areas, credited to Eudoxus of Cnidus and later refined by Archimedes.
