Gluteus Maximus
o: Posterior Illiac crest, Scarum, and sacrotuberous ligament
I: Grater trocanter of femur, gluteal tiberosity, and leteral tibial condyle
Innervation: Inferior Gluteal Nerve, L5-S2
Function: extends hip, externally rotates hip, abducts and adducts hip
Gluteus Medius
O: External surface of the illium between anterior and postior gluteal lines
I: Lateral surface of grater trocanter of the femur
Innervation: superior gluteal nerve, L4-S1
Function: abdcuts the hips, flexs hip, interally rotates hip, extends the hip, externaly rotates hips
Gluteus Minimus
O: external surface of the illium between the anterior & inferior gluteal lines
I: Anterior border of the grater torcanter of the femur
Innervation: superior gluteal nerve, L4-S1
Function: Abducts the hips, internally rotates the hip, slightly flexes the hip
Gluteal muscles
Gluteus Minimus, Gluteus Medius, Gluteus Maximus
Lateral rotators of the hip
Piriformis, Quadratus femoris,
Quadriceps
Rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, vastus medialis
Rectus femoris
o: Anterior illiac spine (AIIS)
I: Tibial tubersosity via the patellar tendon
Innervation: Femoral nerve, L2-L4
Function: flexes the hip, extends the knee
vastus lateralis
O: Grater trocanter of the femur, gluteal tiberosity, and poroximal lateral hip of the linea aspera
I: tibial tuberosity via the patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve, L3-L4
Function: extends the knee
vastus intermedius
O: Proximal two/thirds of anterior shaft of the femur
I: tibial tuberosity via the patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve, L2-L4
Function: Extends the knee
vastus medialis
O: Interochanteric line and medial lip of linea aspera of the femur
I: tibial tuberosity via the patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve, L2-L4
Function: extends the knee
Iliac crest
the top border of the ilium, which is the largest bone in the pelvis. It runs from the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) to the posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS).
