Supine
Lying horizontally with the face and torso pointing upwards
Prone
Lying horizontally on the stomach with the face and torso pointing downward

Physiology

Medial
closer to the middle of the body. It Is directed towards the middle centerline of the body
Lateral
a directional term meaning farther from the midline. It describes a position closer to the outer side of the body
Superior
Higher and toward the head
Inferior
Lower and away from the head
Superficial
Near or relatively close to the body’s surface or skin
Deep
A directional term heading towards the interior of the body, not close to the surface of the body
Posterior
The back view of the body
Anterior
The front view of the body
Sagittal plane
Splits the body into left and right sides running between the legs to the cranium at a lateral POV
Frontal plane
Splits the body front and back better seen at a POV Anterior or posterior view full body
Transverse plane
Splits the body into upper and lower parts it can be seen from both POVs horizontally

Homeostasis

Proximal
Toward the point of attachment to the trunk
Distal
Away from the point of attachment to the trunk

includes:
pathological anatomy(anatomical features that change during illness
radiographic anatomy(anatomical strcutures seen using special imaging techniques
surgical anatomy(anatomical landmarks important during surgery)
Developmental anatomy
study of the changes that take place between conception and adulthood
Cephalic
means toward the head or the entire head region.
Caudal
means toward the tail or the lower/posterior part of the spinal column
Positive feedback loop
body’s attempt to maintain homeostasis by increasing or enhancing the stimuli
Negative feedback loop
body’s attempt to maintain homeostasis by opposing the stimuli
Abdominopelvic quadrants
