Neurodevelopmental disorders
a group of disorders occurring during the developmental period
Symptoms:
Focus on whether the person is exhibiting behaviors APPROPRIATE for their age or maturity range

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
significant and consistent pattern of inattention and impulsive behavior
Symptoms:
difficultly w/organization & attention, hard/uncomfortable to stay still/quiet…(etc.)
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
significant problems w/social communication and interaction across many different social situations; small # of interests & activities
Symptoms:
restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior (routine), interests/activities, deficits in social communication…(etc.)
Schizophrenic spectrum disorder
refers to a range of mental health conditions characterized by distractions in thought processes, perceptions, emotional responsiveness, & social interactions

Acute
when it RAPIDLY develops…recovery is better

when it’s SLOW to develop, recovery is doubtful
