Potential Energy
The energy stored in an object due to its position in a force field, particularly gravitational or electric.
Electric Potential Energy
The potential energy a charged particle has due to its position in an electric field.
Work Done
The energy transferred by a force over a distance; calculated as the product of force and distance.
Electric Potential (V)
The potential energy per unit charge at a point in an electric field.
Electric Potential Difference
The work done to move a unit positive charge from one point to another in an electric field.
Conservative Field
A field where the work done in moving between any two points is independent of the path taken.
Equipotential Surface
A surface on which all points have the same electric potential.
Electron Volt (eV)
A unit of energy defined as the energy gained by a charge of one electron's charge moving through an electric potential difference of one volt.
Gauss's Law
A law that relates the distribution of electric charge to the resulting electric field.
Superposition Principle
The principle stating that the total potential at a point due to multiple charges is the sum of the potentials due to each charge individually.
