  • One application on the social area is increasing obedience in school

  • As the social area says that behaviour is due to the environment, even if not present

  • Research shows children are more likely to behave is there is an authority figure present, setting the standard of how to behave

  • For instance, schools could place teachers around a classroom to watch the students during lessons and ensuring they behave

  • By creating this environment, making good behaviour visible, it can further increase the liklyhood that other children will be well behaved.

  • one application of the cognitive area is changing the way a person feels about a situation

  • As the cognitive area assumes that out behaviour is heavily influenced by cognitive processes

  • Therefore, how an individual thinks about a situation could cause a mental health problem

  • The aim of cognitive therapy is to change thought patterns so that the situation is perceived more positively, this could be by looking at a situation differently

  • For example through the ABC model of depression, that research shows individuals often view things as their fault

  • Using cognitive therapy would help them see it as external, which is successful at reducing vulnerability to depression

  • As development is an ongoing process through a lifespan as a result of nature/nurture

  • Curriculum planning works on a basis that children develop is set stages

  • Therefore different tasks are accessible at different ages, meaning as they get older they understand different things

  • Which is may schools work on a year group or key stage basis

  • Therefore they can be supported in development at the right speed, aswell as working with their peers, helping them to progress to the next stages of development

  • As the biological area states everything psychological is first physiological, and our behaviours are controlled by our body

  • Research shows how the brain can change and has plasticity.

  • Rehabilitation after brain damage could include exercises or games to stimulate non damaged areas training them to take some responsibility of the damaged areas

  • As individual differences says individuality should be considered when studying behaviour

  • Research shows adulation with autism struggle to understand emotions so they use other cues to help them

  • For children this could include emotion cards to help them understand thoughts and feelings

  • For adults they could be taught to use visual or auditory cues e.g tone or mouth to judge emotion

  • As the psychodynamic perspective says our behaviour is controlled by our unconscious thoughts

  • This is because criminals have lower levels of moral development (reading age 11) due to the psychosexual stage their at

  • This could be done by introducing a program where criminal learn skills (english based or practical) to help them progress through the stages

  • This could be done within prison to allow them to gain new skills after life afterwards

  • one application of the behaviourist perspective is using it for teaching and learning within schools

  • Behaviourism focuses on how behaviours are learned and reinforced by responses

  • Therefore positive reinforcement and operant conditioning can be used to improve behaviour

  • Children who are behaving well could be given a reward to incentivise the naughty children to display better behaviour

  • This will encourage desired behaviours in the classroom and will help to reduce behavioural problems
