What is a population?
An immeasurable group with something in common. (ex: All cats, All people, etc.)
What is a random sample?
A sample when any member of the group is equally likely for selection.
What is a parameter?
A characteristic of a population (ex: All people with black hair)
What is a characteristic?
A measurable quality or quantity.
What is a statistics?
A characteristic of a sample.
What does μ mean?
An assumed average in a population.
What is quantitative data?
Data with numeric value
What is categorical (qualitative) data?
Data with nomial or ordinal value.
What is nomial data?
Data without numeric value.
What is a descriptive statistic?
A statistic with numeric/measurable value.
What is an inferential statistic?
An implication
What is Ratio Data?
Data of the highest order, can be subtracted (unlike ordinal), divided (unlike ratio), ordered, and categorized.
What is Ordinal Data?
Ranked Data that can be categorized and ordered.
What is interval data?
Data that can be categorized, ordered, and subtracted, but not divided.
What is a sample?
A small group withing a population.
