Capacitor
A combination of two conductors placed closely to each other.
Positive plate
The conductor within a capacitor that is given a positive charge.
Negative plate
The conductor within a capacitor that is given an equal negative charge.
Charge on the capacitor
The specific charge on the positive plate, represented as q.
Potential of the capacitor
The potential difference between the plates, defined as V=v+−v−.
Total charge on a capacitor
The sum of charges on both conductors, which is +q−q=0.
