Multifactorial Traits
Traits influenced by multiple genes and environmental factors.
Quantitative Trait Loci (QTLs)
Genes that contribute to the variation in quantitative traits.
Heritability
The proportion of phenotypic variance in a population that is attributable to genetic variance.
Phenotype
The observable characteristics or traits of an organism.
Concordance
The occurrence of both twins expressing the same trait.
Discordance
The occurrence where one twin expresses a trait and the other does not.
Population Genetics
The study of genetic composition and changes within biological populations.
Hardy-Weinberg Law
A principle that describes the genetic equilibrium in a population.
Allele Frequencies
The relative frequency of an allele at a genetic locus in a population.
Continuous Traits
Traits that can be measured on a continuous scale.
Categorical Traits
Traits that are countable or fall into distinct categories.
Additive Alleles
Alleles that combine to contribute to a phenotype in a cumulative manner.
Threshold Traits
Traits expressed only when a certain threshold of genetic or environmental risk is exceeded.
