Input Device
A device used to put data and information into a computer.
Output Device
A device used to send information from a computer.
Examples of Input Devices
Keyboard, Webcam, Magnetic stripe reader, Barcode reader.
Examples of Output Devices
Speakers, Printers, Projector.
Touch Screen
A device that functions as both an input device and an output device.
Optical Storage
Devices which use lasers to read and write data, such as CDs and DVDs.
CD
Compact Disc, an optical storage medium commonly used for audio files.
DVD
Digital Versatile Disc, an optical storage medium with higher capacity than CDs.
Blu-ray Disc
An advanced optical storage medium with more storage than DVDs.
Magnetic Storage
Devices that store information magnetically, such as hard disk drives and magnetic tape.
Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
A magnetic storage device with high capacity for data storage.
Flash Storage
A fast and compact storage technology that uses silicon semiconductors.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
A popular form of storage that uses flash memory and has no moving parts.
RAM
Random Access Memory, a type of fast memory that is volatile and loses data when powered off.
ROM
Read-Only Memory, non-volatile storage that retains data when powered off.
Virtual Storage
Storing information remotely, accessible via the Internet, such as cloud storage.
