Catheter

Suprapubic Catheter

Surgical removal of the entire prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and part of the bladder neck, usually performed for prostate cancer.

Post-operative Care

Care provided after surgery, including monitoring for complications like bleeding or infection.

Urinary Diversion

A surgical procedure that reroutes urine flow when normal drainage is not possible.

Aseptic Technique

A procedure designed to minimize contamination by pathogens, commonly used during catheterization.

Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)

A procedure that uses fluid to continuously wash out the bladder, often done post-surgery.

Ureteral Stent

A tube placed in the ureter to prevent or treat obstruction.

Neurogenic Bladder

A condition where bladder function is impaired due to neurological causes, requiring urinary diversion.

Incontinence

The inability to control urination, a potential complication after certain surgeries.

Stoma

An opening created surgically that connects an internal organ to the surface of the body for waste removal.

Ileal Conduit

A type of incontinent urinary diversion that uses a section of the intestine to channel urine to a stoma.
