What happens with increased temperature?
Increased kinetic energy of enzyme and substrate -> increased movement -> increased chance of enzyme and substrate collisions -> increased chance of successful collisions forming ESC allowing product to be formed
What is the optimum temperature for most enzymes?
40 degrees
What happens above the optimum temperature?
Kinetic energy (vibrations) break H bonds -> change shape of AS -> substrate no longer complimentary to AS -> ESC cannot be formed -> no product formed
What can denatured enzymes not do?
Cannot form ESC
Draw the temperature graph
Yes
