What is leadership?
Leadership is the use of power and influence to direct the activities of followers toward goal achievement.
What is leader effectiveness?
The degree to which the leader's actions result in goal achievement, employee commitment, and quality relationships.
What is leader emergence?
The process of becoming recognized as a leader, often linked to personality and ability traits.
List the four decision-making styles leaders use.
Autocratic, Consultative, Facilitative, Delegative.
What model guides which decision-making style to use?
The time-driven model of leadership.
What are the seven time-driven model factors?
Decision significance, importance of commitment, leader expertise, likelihood of commitment, shared objectives, employee expertise, teamwork skills.
What are the two dimensions of day-to-day leadership behaviors?
Initiating Structure and Consideration.
What does initiating structure involve?
Organizing, setting goals, defining roles, and monitoring performance.
What does consideration involve?
Building trust, supporting employees, communicating, and caring about well-being.
What is transactional leadership?

What is transformational leadership?
A leadership style that inspires followers to commit to a vision and exceed expectations.

What is idealized influence?
Acting as a role model, earning trust and admiration.
What is inspirational motivation?
Communicating a compelling vision that inspires followers.
What is intellectual stimulation?
Challenging followers to think creatively and critically.
What is individualized consideration?
Providing support and coaching based on individual follower needs.
How does leadership affect job performance?
Transformational leaders improve task performance and encourage citizenship behavior.
How does leadership affect organizational commitment?
Transformational leaders increase affective and normative commitment.
Can leadership be trained?
