A Fluid cannot resist a shear stress by static deflection
It moves and deforms continuously as long as the shear stress is applied.
What are the two classes of fluids and what is a common differentiation between them?
Liquids and gases. Where a liquid will take the shape of a container and form a free surface in the presence of gravity a gas will fill the entire available space.
How do we simplify the math of fluid dynamics and why?
We introduce the idea of a continuum treating the fluid as a continuous sheet with no gaps ignoring the billions of tiny individual molecules that it’s actually comprised of.
Explain the two types of dimensions
Primary or fundamental dimensions are base units such as mass, length, time. Secondary or derived dimensions are derived-duh- from Primary dimensions. Velocity(m/s), pressure(kg/ms²).
