Anterior triangle of neck
Superiorly- inferior border of the mandible
Laterally- anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid
Medially- sagittal line down the midline of the neck
Carotid triangle
Superior- posterior belly of digastric muscle
Lateral- medial border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
Inferior- superior belly of the omohyoid muscle
contents: common carotid artery (which bifurcates), internal jugular vein and the hypoglossal and vagus nerves
Submental triangle
Contains submental lymph nodes (drains from floor of the mouth and parts of the tongue)
Inferiorly- hyoid bone
Medially- midline of the neck
Laterally- anterior belly of the digastric
Floor- mylohyoid muscle
Submandibular triangle
contains submandibular gland and lymph nodes, facial artery and vein
Superiorly- body of the mandible
Anteriorly- anterior belly of the digastric muscle
Posteriorly- posterior belly of the digastric muscle
Muscular triangle
Contains the infrahyoid muscles, the pharynx and the thyroid, parathyroid glands
Superiorly- hyoid bone
Medially- imaginary midline of neck
Supero-laterally- superior belly of the omohyoid muscle
Infero-laterally- inferior portion of the sternocleidomastoid
Triangle for vertebral artery (dissection 4)
Base: first part of subclavian artery
Apex: Anterior tubercle of transverse process of C6
Medial: Longus cervicis m.
Lateral: Scalenus anterior m.
Contents: Vertebral artery and vein, inferior thyroid artery, sympathetic trunk middle, inferior cervical ganglion, and thoracic duct
