structure and sequencing, content and integration of stimulus information, persuasive techniquesa and langauge accuracy and sophistication
What do you need to remember for structure and sequencing?
you need a title, address the audience, introduce yourself (name and aim), write a short synopsis, use an introduction, 2-3 body paragraphs and a conclusion (visually separated by blank lines), it should read like a speech and have clear strcuture
What do you need to remember for context and integration?
one stimulus material will be a key quote and the other will be reading, these must be smoothly and fully embedded
List some persausive techniques
(you must use at least 3, try for 5+:) devriez/pourriez/on doit/il faut, rhetorical questions, flattery, key quotations (evidence), anecdotes, inclusive language, superlative, repetition (but not too much)
What do you need to remember for language accuracy and sophistication?
consistent use of ‘vous’ pronouns (it’s a formal speech), complex grammatical structures (specifically the si clause)
How can you practice audience involvement?
soliciting agreement through the use of expressions like ‘n’est-ce pas ?’
Examples of closing sentences are:
‘Je vous remercie de votre attention. Excellente (fin de) soirée. / Pour être gagnée la bataille de l’Education doit être mené par la nation toute entière. / Je vous remercie de votre intérêt et de votre participation.
