Planting Systems
Refers to the method or pattern of arranging plants in the field.
Square System
The most common and simplest method.
Suitable for orchard crops like mango, citrus, or guava.
Quincunx System or Diagonal System
A modified version of the square system where a fifth plant is added in the center of each square.
Hexagonal System
Plants are arranged at the corners of equilateral triangles, forming a hexagon when the points are connected.
Triangular System
A variation of the square system that forms a staggered triangle pattern.
Contour System
Used mainly on hilly or sloping lands.
Suitable for upland crops like coffee, pineapple, and banana.
Plant Population
Refers to the total number of plants grown per unit area.
Field Layout
The process of planning, measuring, and marking the planting area before actual planting begins.
