Point
An exact location in space; has no dimension
Parallel Lines
Lines that do not intersect and lie in the same plane
Reflection
Transformation that produces a mirror image
Skew Lines
Lines that do not intersect and are not on the same plane
Translation
Transformation in which every point in a figure is moved in the same direction and by the same distance
Plane
A flat surface that extends endlessly in all directions
Right Angle
An angle that measures 90 degrees
Partition
To separate or divide
Rotation
Transformation of a figure by turning it about an axis or center point
Straight Angle
An angle that measures 180 degrees
Isometry
Transformation that preserves distance and angle measure
Line Segment
Part of a line having two endpoints
Line
A collection of points along a straight path that extends endlessly in both directions
Dilation
Proportional increase or decrease in size in all directions
Scale Factor
Constant that is multiplied by the length of a figure to produce a new image that is the same shape as original image
Congruent
Exactly the same shape and size
Perpendicular Lines
Lines that intersect at a 90 degree angle
Acute Angle
An angle that measures less than 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle
An angle that measures more than 90 degrees
Vertical Angles
The opposite angles formed when two lines intersect
Bisect
To cut or divide something into two equal parts
Similar
Having exactly the same shape but not necessarily the same size
Rigid Transformation
A transformation of points in space consisting of a sequence of one or more translations, reflections, or rotations; It preserves distances and angle measures
