Staphylococcus
Gram-positive cocci that can cause food poisoning, skin infections, and toxic shock syndrome.
Lipase
Enzyme produced by Staphylococcus that breaks down fats.
Enterotoxin
A toxin produced in contaminated food that can cause rapid-onset vomiting and diarrhea.
Folliculitis
Inflammation of the hair follicle, often caused by Staphylococcus.
Blepharitis
Infection around the eyelashes, often caused by Staphylococcus.
Impetigo
Bacterial skin infection characterized by crusty lesions.
Cellulitis
Inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue, often caused by Streptococcus.
Furuncle(Boil)
A deeper skin infection than cellulitis.
Bacteremia
A systemic infection caused by bacteria in the bloodstream.
Exfoliative toxin
A toxin-mediated illness characterized by fever, rash, and skin peeling.
Toxic Shock Syndrome
A severe illness caused by staphylococcal or streptococcal toxins, characterized by fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash.
Skin Loss
A complication of staphylococcal infection characterized by skin peeling.
Immunocompromised
Suppressed immune system, increasing susceptibility to infection.
Pharyngitis
Inflammation of the pharynx, often caused by Streptococcus.
Scarlet Fever/Scarletina
A complication of streptococcal pharyngitis characterized by a red, bumpy rash.

The exotoxin that results in Scarlet Fever
Sepsis
A life-threatening condition caused by infection and inflammation, leading to organ damage.
Endocarditis
Inflammation of the inner lining of the heart, often affecting the heart valves.
Osteomyelitis
Inflammation of the bone, typically caused by bacterial infection.
Rheumatic Fever
A disease of the heart, joints, skin, and brain that occurs as a result of untreated strep throat.
Glomerulonephritis
Kidney disease caused by immune complexes that damage the glomeruli.
Alpha Hemolysis
A type of hemolysis characterized by partial destruction of red blood cells.
Beta Hemolysis
A type of hemolysis characterized by complete destruction of red blood cells.
Gamma Hemolysis
A type of hemolysis characterized by no destruction of red blood cells.
