1
New cards

Intelligence

The ability solve problems, adapt to new situations, devise strategies, and overall doing what feels to be the right thing.

2
New cards

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The study of intelligent systems and how to synthesize biological intelligence through machine programming.

3
New cards

Turing Test

A Theoretical Test proposed by Alan Turing that determines a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behaviors. If a human cannot distinguish the responses as made by a computer, then it passes the test.

4
New cards

Chinese Room Experiment

A Theoretical argument made by John Searle against the Turing Test. It refutes the idea that machines have a mind that thinks and understands like a human, instead suggesting that algorithms simulate human intelligence, which is not true intelligence. The Man inside the Chinese room knows how to transcribe Chinese characters, but does not understand the language.

5
New cards

Heuristics

Strategies that guide the algorithm to the closest possible answer without brute force.

6
New cards

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) (Strong AI)

An AI Algorithm that is smart and flexible enough to solve any goal.

7
New cards

Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) (Weak AI)

AI that is only built for specific tasks. It is the most widely used.

8
New cards

Artificial Super Intelligence

AI capable of accomplishing tasks exponentially faster than humans.
