Machine
tool consisting of one or more parts that is constructed to achieve a particular goal.
Simple Machine
device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force.
1.INCLINED PLANE 2. SCREW
3. WEDGE
4. LEVER
5. PULLEY
6.WHEEL AND AXLE
6 simple machines
Inclined Plane
a flat surface that is higher on one end.
Inclined Machine
make the work of moving things easier.
Screw
converts rotational motion to linear motion. (rotational force).
Screw
can lift massive weight with minimal rotational effort.
Jacksrew/Screw Jack
a screw that lifts an entire car.
Wedge
triangular shaped round tool, a compound and portable inclined plane.
Wedge
used to separate two objects or portions of an object, lift an object, or hold an object on place.
Levers
a rigid bar that pivots around a fixed point to lift or move heavy objects
Fulcrum
fixed point
Levers-first class
Levers-second class
Levers-third class
type of levers
Levers-first class
fulcrum is in the middle and the effort is on either side.
Beam Balance
example of levers-first class
Levers-second class
fulcrum is at the end, with the load in the middle.
wheelbarrow
example of levers-second class
Levers-third class
fulcrum is again at the end, but the effort is in the middle.
Tongs
example of levers-third class
Pulley
designed to support movement of a cable or belt along its circumference.
Pulley
used in a variety of ways to lift loads, apply forces, and to transmit power.
Wheel and Axle
two parts rotate together in which a force is transferred from one to the other.
Compound Machines
combining two or more simple machines (levers, pulleys, inclined planes, wedges, wheels and axles, or screws) to perform complex tasks.
