What was indentured servitude?

One would get a wealthy individual to pay for the journey to the new world, and in return, would work for them for a finite amount of time before transitioning into society seamlessly

Why did indentured servitude end?

Indentured servants worked in terrible conditions and were often starved and worked to death on the most dangerous jobs. The desperation to travel to the new world decreased as religious freedom and political stability improved in England. The price to go to the new world also decreased as there were more ships going.

Describe Jamestown

Settlers in Jamestown were wealthy men who did not want to work and simply wanted to get rich and go home. The colony was already at a disadvantage due to the swampy land, which was bad for farming and led to many dying from water born diseases. Because of this, Jamestown was originally slow to get off the ground.

Describe Plymouth

The separatists or the Pilgrims settled here to escape the corrupt Church of England. 102 came over on the Mayflower, but only 44 survived the first winter. Their hardships made them determined to succeed, leading them to form the Mayflower compact (majority rules), forge good relations with the Native Americans, and more.
