they are only found in the appendicular skeleton (limbs). they are typically found in the carpal and tarsal regions. they are typically wide as they are long
what is the axial skeleton?
head, neck and torso?
what are flat bones?
they are only found in the axial skeleton (head, torso and neck), they are relatively flat in shape and are primarily involved in protection eg: bnes of the cranium and ribs
what are irregular bones?
they are typically irregular in shape, have many boney projections
what are sesamoid bones?
these bones are found embedded in the tendon, they help reduce the effort required to move joints.
