NVFR TE Priviliges and Limitations

Privileges of the NVFR TE

Conduct flight training for a NVFR rating or a NVFR endorsement in an aircraft of the specified category and conduct BIFT

What must you have in order to exercise privileges of the NVFR TE

You must be legally qualified to act as the PIC at night (i.e. have a NVFR rating)

Limitations of the NVFR TE

Can only exercise privileges if you have a CPL or ATPL and at least 20hrs aeronautical experience at night as a pilot

Requirements for the grant of a NVFR TE

Must have a FIR and CPL or ATPL, at least 20hrs aeronautical experience at night as a pilot, completed the flight training for endorsement and passed the flight test

Flight review requirements for NVFR TE

• Not subject to flight reviews, NVFR TE must be maintained and kept valid through an IPC (Same as FIR reqs.) - Instructor must maintain a valid flight review for their NVFR rating

NVFR Flight review requirements: A pilot must have completed one of the following in the previous 24 months

• Successfully completed a flight review for the NVFR rating - Passed a flight test for the NVFR rating or a NVFR endorsement (table 61.980) within the previous 24 months but more than 6 months after passing the flight test for the rating - Completed an operator proficiency check - Participating in an approved training and checking system

Will passing a flight test for a training endorsement renew the NVFR flight review?

A training endorsement is classified as an operational endorsement under 61.010 and not a way to satisfy the NVFR flight review
