An anabolic process described as adding to the body's supply.
Glycogen
The storage form of glucose that is released when blood sugar is low.
Glycogen Storage Sites
Mostly stored in the muscle and liver.
Linear Glycogen Bonds
Comprised of linear ax 1,4 bonds.
Branched Glycogen Bonds
Consist of a 1-6 bonds.
Glycogen synthese
The enzyme that sets the rate-limiting step for glycogen synthesis; its activity increases in the fed state.
Activators of Glycogen synthese
Insulin, GGP, and cortisol.
Inhibitors of Glycogen synthese
Epinephrine and glucagon.
Branching enzyme
The enzyme responsible for creating the a-1,6 branching bond.
