masseter actions

elevates, protrudes, lateral excursion (up and out) - in mass i want to get up and out and move about

cnv3 (mandibular nerve), maxillary artery

temporalis muscle characteristics - ttc

covered by temporalis fascia, mmaintains mandible in rest position, fan shape, attached to temporal fossa and coronoid process, anterior fibres are vertical, posterior fibres are horizontal

temporalis actions

elevates (from anterior fibres), retracts (from posterior fibres), lateral excursion - in the temple i want in get up and back in!

anterior cnv3, superficial temoral artery and maxillary artery

lateral pterygoid muscle characteristics - late sleep never calms

thick, triangular, attached to sphenoid bone and pterygoid fovea (neck) of mandible and capsule, upper and lower (larger) head, horizontal fibres

lateral pterygoid muscle actions

protrudes, depressed, lateral excursion - literally poor and depressed

medial pteryogoid muscle charcateristics - my silly mother makes radishes

opposite of masseter, deepest MOM, quadrilateral, attached to sphenoid bone, maxillar, and medial surface of ramus, superficial and deep head, vertical fibres

medial pterygoid muscle actions

elevates, protrudes, lateral excursion - same as masseter

contraction of ipslateral muscles (chin to contralateral side), contralateral movements of TMJ (mastication)
