Federal Bureaucracy
The means by which the government manages and administers public policy, consisting of millions of employees primarily within the executive branch.
Bureaucracy
A large, complex administrative structure that handles the everyday business of an organization.
Executive Office of the President
Comprising the President's closest advisors, assistants, and experts, assisting in decision-making and policy execution.
The Cabinet
An advisory group to the President, consisting of heads of major executive departments, appointed by the President and approved by the Senate.
Independent Agencies
Entities providing unique services, not fitting within other departments, including executive agencies, regulatory commissions, and government corporations.
Executive Agencies
Examples include the FDA, NASA, EPA, and CIA, responsible for specific governmental functions.
Regulatory Commissions
Independent watchdogs monitoring aspects of the economy and governance, such as the FTC, FCC, EEOC, SEC, and FEC.
Government Corporations
Businesses created and funded by Congress to provide specific services, like the FDIC, Amtrak, and the Postal Service.
Power of the Presidency
Expanded due to the growth of the executive branch over time, necessitated by complex societal, economic, and military challenges.
Informal Powers
Including Executive Orders, Executive Agreements, and Executive Privilege, enabling the President to act swiftly and decisively in various situations.
