Caliph 'Uthmān

Successor of the Prophet and member of the clan of the Umayyadi, who ordered the written text of the Quran to be created in an official copy.

Coran of ‘Uthmān

The written text of the Quran without diacritical points or vowels, which allows for multiple interpretations.

The Quranic Sciences

Sciences and disciplines dedicated to the study of various aspects of the Quran.

Science of the Qirāʿāt

The various possible ways of reading, vocalizing, and pronouncing the rasm of the Quran.

Rasm

The 'drawing' or 'trace,' which is the written text of the Quran.

Belief of Muslims

All the readings and possible vocalizations of the rasm are believed to be revealed to the Prophet and therefore of divine origin.

Science of the Qirāʿāt codification

The science that studies the different readings of the Quran, their reliability, and their origin.

Arabic Grammar

Grammar that arises also as an instrument of analysis, interpretation, and correct vocalization of the Quran.

Analysis level

The historical analysis used to understand when a part of the Quran was revealed.

Asbāb al-Nuzūl

The causes of the revelation; circumstances in which specific verses were revealed.

Tafsīr

The explanation of the Quranic text, it is a literary genre

Tafsīr Classico

Commentary of the text that goes systematically, verse by verse, explaining when and in what circumstances it was revealed.
