Antiplatelet
Mechanism of action
Aspirin makes platelets less sticky, reducing the formation of blood clots. In acs, it inhibits platelet aggregation by blocking thromboxane A₂ production, helping prevent further clot growth in the coronary arteries.
Indications
ACS, APO
Contraindications
Allergy/ADR, Bleeding and clotting disorders, current GI bleeding, patient less than 18 years old.
Side effects
Nausea, NSAID-induced bronchospasm, epigastric pain/discomfort, GI bleeding, Gastritis
Presentation
White tablet, 300 mg Aspirin
Suspected ASC, APO
PO 300 mg chewed and followed with sip of water
