Strength- communication; not only physical voice- art is my voice
Weakness- too engrossed; ex: skip meals to finish an art piece(forget/neglect personal needs)
Why should you be a Pathfinder?
art=powerful form of expression for me
use my platform to spread awareness of systemic issues through art

What does Pathfinder mean to you?
aknowledging your privelage as someone who has the power to change
whether president of a club or just someone others look up to
push social norm
What advice would you give to a freshman?
push through your struggles
was hard to feel motivated
ex: lack of skill, can’t draw what you imagined
understanding its okay to be discouraged
future self will thank you for getting over these roadblocks
Who did you look up to when you were younger?
girl in class- ahead in technicality & creativity
b/c she stayed longer & asked more questions
she maximized her opportunity
origonally drawn to her skill, now I look up to both skill & hardworking nature
maximize the opportunities I’m given in art, and all areas of my life.
What artist do you look up to?
barbara kruger
living icon of both the artistic and feminist movement
uses her art as a channel for her voice

art director and educator for an art institution
set sights for a long time
teach students from elementary and beyond (levels of class)
participate in events/galleries/scholarships for my studentss
Eventually expand into art school w/ qualified teachers- hand selected by me.
What do you find exciting about your art?
When showcasing my art…
watching their reactions/ listening to their own person experience w the topic my art may be in
art community are just so talented and introspective towards art
connections w ppl w similar artistic journeys
What is your plan from now until college?
attend the art galleries- b/c I won at competitions
look foward to speaking w art directors, other competition winners
b/c… so many talented artistic peers (most talented artists in FL)
greatest opportunity is to speak w them
it enhances my experiences by being exposed to many diff. perspectives/ artistic experiences bfore college
What are you doing after high school?
continue edu. at RISD
fundamental classes freshman year and focusing more on my intended major
major in fine arts or painting and buisness
refine my skills and make connections
lay a solid foundation for my future endeavors
What inspires you?
collection of my life experiences, my identity, and overall, just, who I am.

How did your passion start?
first signs at the age of five
art classes which further fueled my love of art
elementary school- event= dress up as what you wanted to be when you grow up
i always dressed as an artist

attended art classes- followed college riguor and traditional fine arts techniques

art: although I prefer oil painting… I do printmaking, wood burning(pyrography)
What do you want to do in the future; be specific
continue my experience in tutoring art- art teacher/director
plan: host art galleries, teach fundamentals, creativity
want students to become leaders- collaborative projects, leadership workshops- to succeed beyond art
collab w nonprofits- for students who cant afford art class- why? seen privelaged ppl/ well-off mostly attend art class
then expand- hand pick teachers
What leadership roles have you taken in the community?
I would say that most of my leadership roles are given to me in school.
NAHS, founder of 2 clubs (emphasize 1 of them is a Honor Society),Architecture club, capstone, band, founed recycling program, help w SECME poster competition every year

There’s this one girl- i taught painting
when I got into RISD, she said it was her dream school
**feel so accomplished knowing that I’m someone who she looks up to and I may have played a part in her passion for art
Anything extra/was there anything you would like to tell us about yourself?
WITVA top award winner of secret shelf- hosting a speech at their reward ceremony
Published art in The Voice(monthly newspaper) and collaborating w them for potential book. b/c I won one of their art competitions
2 murals- 1 medical finished, 1 for chem.
