The total sum of kinetic energy of all molecules of a body.

The unit used to measure heat in the S.I. system.
Calorie
The unit used to measure heat in the C.G.S. system.

A quantity-dependent property that depends on mass and serves as a cause.
Temperature (Molecular Theory)
The average kinetic energy of the molecules of a body.
Kelvin (K)
The unit used to measure temperature in the S.I. system.
Temperature (Quantity Dependence)
A quantity-independent property that acts as an effect of heat.
Transfer of Heat
The process wherein heat always transfers from a body of higher temperature to a body of lower temperature.
Thermal Contact
The state of two bodies when there is an exchange or transfer of heat from one body to another body of different temperature.
Thermal Equilibrium
The state of two bodies in thermal contact when there is no transfer of heat from one body to another.
