Nominal
Data in categories (discrete data)
e.g- short & tall, eye colour
Ordinal
Refers to quantities that have a natural ordering, you cannot state with certainty whether the intervals between each value are equal
e.g- ranking of favourite sports, height order, happiness rating on 1-5 scale
Interval
Data is ordinal except we can say that the intervals between each value are equally split
e.g- temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, measuring weight
Ratio
Data is interval with a natural zero point
e.g- time, degrees Kelvin
