what is a solution?
A solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substance.
what are the properties of a solution?
A solution is a homogenous mixture.
the particles of solutions are less than 1nm in diameter, so they cannot be seen through naked eyes.
because of the small particles the beam of light passing through the solution is not visible.
the solute particles can be seperated by the process of filtration and the particles of solutions do not settle down when left undisturbed.
what is a saturated solution?
when no more solute can be dissolved in a solution at a given temperature.
what is solubility?
the amount of solute present in a saturated solution at this temperature is called as solubility.
what are the properties of a suspension?
• Suspension is a heterogeneous mixture. • The particles of a suspension can be seen by the naked eye
The particles of a suspension scatter a beam of light passing through it and make its path visible. • The solute particles settle down when a suspension is left undisturbed, that is, a suspension is unstable. They can be separated from the mixture by the process of filtration. When the particles settle down, the suspension breaks and it does not scatter light any more.
what is tyndall effect?
The Tyndall effect is the scattering of light by particles in a colloid or in a very fine suspension.
what is a physical change
the ineterconversion of the states of matter without changing its chemical composition.
