Professionalism
The expectation to conduct or exhibit the highest moral/behavioral standards in the workplace.
Promotion of a culture of professionalism
Ensures the success of the company and its employees.
Mission statement
- Defines what an organization or a company is, why it exists, and its reason for being.
- This should define who the primary customers of the company are, and identify the products and services they produce.
- This also creates a sense of identity of the company's employees.
Vision statement
- Describes what a company desires to achieve in the long run, generally in a time frame of five to ten years, or sometimes even longer.
- This describes what it is trying to build, and serves as a touchstone for its future actions.
Corporate values
- Principles that guide an organization's internal conduct as well as its relationship with its customers, partners, and shareholders.
- This guides the people in understanding the difference between right and wrong behavior.
Employee's character
Describes how a person comes to work and conducts himself/herself on the job and where a person's professionalism is embedded.

Be punctual
➔ This is a key sign of professionalism.
➔ A professional arrives at work ahead of schedule, gets settled, and is prepared to start.
➔ They complete their tasks on time and adhere to all deadlines.
Be accountable
➔ It involves fully owning the completion of assigned tasks, making sound decisions, and addressing any issues that arise from those decisions.
➔ A professional takes responsibility and takes proactive steps to resolve problems, rather than shifting blame to others
Be organized
➔ To ensure an activity is carried out effectively and efficiently, it's important to keep your work area as tidy as possible to prevent misplacing documents or damaging company property.
➔ This involves properly storing personal items for both safety and professionalism.
Dress appropriately and maintain good hygiene
➔ Regardless of whether you need to dress formally or casually for work, your appearance should always be tidy and well-groomed.
➔ Steer clear of clothing that could create a negative impression.
➔ Similarly, ensure your hair is neatly combed, and maintain this by brushing your teeth and using deodorant as needed.
Be courteous and respectful to all
➔ Showing this to managers, supervisors, colleagues, trainees, customers, and maintenance and security staff is essential for demonstrating professionalism.
➔ This can be achieved by greeting everyone with a genuine smile, using polite and appropriate language, paying attention during conversations, and staying calm even in stressful situations.
Exercise confidentiality at all times
➔ It involves adhering to rules or promises that prevent the unauthorized sharing of information.
➔ As a trainee, you are expected to keep any files or information you access completely private, as these are the company's property.
➔ These files are intended solely for training and workplace exposure purposes.
Be a team player
➔ Take the initiative to assist colleagues when needed and collaborate effectively to achieve shared goals in a timely and efficient manner.
➔ Don't hesitate to offer suggestions that can enhance the relevance and quality of the work.
➔ Provide honest and constructive feedback aimed at fostering continuous improvement within the company.
