Hull
The main structural body of a ship or vessel (корпус).
Shell plating
The outer metal skin or outer covering of a vessel's hull (обшивка корпусу).
Bow
The forward or front end of a vessel (ніс).
Stem
The upright edge or post at the extreme forward end of a ship's bow (форштевень).
Keel
The main centerline structural member extending along the bottom of the hull (кіль).
Forecastle
The upper deck section located at the forward part of a vessel (бак).
Bulbous bow
A protruding bulb located at the bow below the waterline to improve hull efficiency as it moves (бульбовий ніс).
Stern
The aft or rear section of a vessel (корма).
Sternpost
The main upright structural member at the stern of a vessel (ахтерштевень).
Fantail
An overhang or extended section at the stern of a vessel (ют).
Port side
The left-hand side of a vessel when facing forward toward the bow (лівий борт).
Starboard side
The right-hand side of a vessel when facing forward toward the bow (правий борт).
Bulwarks
Solid extension walls along the side of a deck that protect against waves and prevent falls (фальшборт).
Gunwale
The upper edge or top boundary of a ship's side (планшир).
Railings
Guard rails along the perimeter of decks designed to prevent personnel from falling (леєра).
Weather deck
An uppermost open deck exposed to weather and atmospheric conditions (верхня палуба).
Main deck
The primary principal deck of a vessel (основна палуба).
Gangway
A movable boarding ladder or walkway used to get on and off a vessel (сходний трап).
Superstructure
Any structure or housing elevated above the main deck of a vessel (надбудова).
Bridge
The elevated control station from which a vessel is navigated and commanded (місток).
Bridge wings
Open platform extensions on either side of the navigation bridge (ходовий місток).
Lookouts
Crew members assigned to monitor the surrounding water for hazards or ships (спостерігачі).
Mast
A vertical structure on a ship that supports safety lights, signals, and aerials (щогла).
Safety lights
Navigational and warning lights used to maintain safety and visibility (сигнальні вогні).
Funnel
The smokestack structure used to vent engine exhaust gases away from the vessel (димова труба).
Exhaust gases
Waste gases produced and vented by ship engines during operation (вихлопні гази).
Poop deck
A raised deck structure positioned at the aft end of a vessel (задня палуба).
Propeller
A rotating blade unit driven by engines to propel a vessel through water (гвинт).
Rudder
A flat steering blade at the stern used to direct the course of a vessel (кермо).
Bow thruster
A side-propulsion unit fitted near the bow that allows a vessel to move sideways (підрулювач).
Harbor
A protected area of water suitable for docking, anchoring, and mooring vessels (гавань).
Anchors
Heavy mooring devices dropped to the seabed to keep a vessel stationary (якір).
Ladders
Rope or steps installed for climbing between different decks or structures (мотузяний трап).
Stairways
Fixed steps providing access between levels on a vessel (сходи).
Crew
The team of maritime personnel operating and maintaining a vessel (екіпаж).
Move sideways
Lateral movement of a ship, typically aided by thrusters in harbor areas (рухатися вбік).
