Interaction graphs?
Parallel = No interaction regardless moderator

Diverging = Interaction. Same direction but gets stronger
Interaction term =
Predictor X Moderator
If interaction term is significant…
There is moderation
If interaction term is not significant…
No moderation
What do we do before creating an interaction term?
Centre the predictor and moderator. Subtract the mean from each score.
Why do we centre?
Reduce multicollineraity and easier interpretation
How is moderation usually tested?
Hierarchical regression
Which block should interaction term go in?
Final block
What do simple slopes do?
investigate a significant interaction.
Low moderator -1SD
Average moderator (Mean)
High moderator (+1SD)
