B(me): “She is a beautiful doll, all right, with 100% eyes”
NICE: “ it is too bad that such a dull wastes all her time being good. How can she make any money from that?“
B(me): “Maybe she owns a piece of the mission.”
H; “Hey! Benny Southstreet!”
B(me): “Harry the Horse! How are you! You know Nicely-Nicely Johnson.”
NICE: “Nicely, Nicely, Thank you.”
B(me): “Rusty Charlie.”
H: “Tell me, what about Nathan Detroit? Is he got a place for his crap game?“
B(me): “We don’t know yet”
NICE: “The heat is on.”
B(me): “He’s still looking for a place.”
H: “Well, tell him I’m loaded and looking for action. I just acquired Five Thousand potatoes.”
B(me): “Five Thousand bucks?!”
H: “ I collected the reward on my father.”
B(me): “Everybody’s looking for action. I wish Nathan finds a-“
NICE: “Why Lieutenant Brannigan! Mr. South Street it is Lieutenant Brannigan of the New York police department.”
B(me): “A pleasure.”
BRAN: “Any of you guys see Nathan Detroit?”
B(me): “Which Nathan Detroit is that?”
NATH: “ well, the heat is on as you must know from the fact you now have to live on your salary.”
BRAN. EXITS
B(me): “Nathan! Did you find a place?”
NATH: “Is that a crime! Yeah!”
R: “Where’s the game?”
B(me): “Nathan! Did you find a place?” (2)
NATH: “Did I find a place! Did I find a—, yes I found a place. We’re holding the crap game tomorrow night in the Radio City Music Hall.”
B(me): “How are you gonna fix the ushers?”
NATH: “—spoke to Joey Biltmore himself. He says he might take a chance and let me use the place if I give him a Thousand bucks.”
B(me): “A thousand bucks?!”
NATH: “In cash. He won’t take my marker.”
B(me): “Your markers no good, huh?”
NATH: “What do you mean?… me without a livelihood. Why. I’ve been running the crap game ever since I was a juvenile delinquent.”
B(me): “Nathan, can’t you do something?”
NATH: “What can I do?… It is mine and Adelaide’s fourteenth anniversary.”
B(me): “Yeah?”
NATH: “Yeah, we’ve been engaged fourteen years.”
B(me): “Nathan concentrate on the game. The town’s up to here with high players. The Greek’s in town!”
NICE: “Brandy Bottle Bates!”
B(me): “Scranton Slim!”
NATH: “Sky Masterson! There is the highest player of them all!”
B(me): “Higher than the Greek?”
NATH: “Look— run to Mindy’s restaurant and ask Mindy, how many pieces of cheesecake he sold yesterday and also how many pieces of strudel.”
B(me): “How much cheesecake, how much strudel— What do you wanna know that for?”
(EXIT, COME BACK)
AD: “…so long as you don’t start running the crap game again.”
NATH: “The crap game! What an absurd thought!”
B(me): “PSST! Twelve hundred cheesecake and fifteen hundred strudel”
(EXIT, REENTER)
NATH: “No bet. Blue. What a crazy color.”
B(me): “Nathan, we took Adelaide to the drugstore—“
S: “Good. How’s it with you fellows?”
B(me): “Not bad.”
