Communication
process of creating and sharing meaning by using verbal and nonverbal symbols in varied contexts, and effective communication results when both verbal and nonverbal symbols are understood in much the same way by both communicators.

Source, Message, Encoding, Channel, Decoding, Receiver, Feedback, Context
Source
sender of the message crafts the message.
Message
the information the source wants to convey
Encoding
process of converting the source’s idea or thoughts of the information into verbal and/or nonverbal symbols that can be understood by the receiver of the message.
Channel
medium in which manner the message is trransmitted
Decoding
the receiver’s mental processing of the message into the meaning suggested by the verbal and/or nonverbal symbols the sender used.
Receiver
person or group of people who will get the message. who receives the transmitted message.
Feedback
receiver’s response to the message.
Context
situation in which the communication takes place. (Environment, Relationship between the communicators, cultural background and past experiences and topic or subject)

include competing stimulus, weather and climate, health and ignorance of the medium
Linguistic and Cultural Barriers
language and its cultural environment. words may mean another in different cultures.
Mechanical Barriers
channels employed for interpersonal, group or mass communication. include cellphones, laptops and other gadgets used in communication
Interpersonal Communication is inescapable.
It is not possible for humans not to communicate. The attempt of not wanting to communicate communicates something.

reduces misunderstandings

build goodwill involves being polite in terms of approach and manner of addressing an individual

grammar errors obscure the meaning of a sentence misuse of language can damage credibility
Consideration
sender must consider the recipient’s profession, level of education, race, ethnicity, interests and age in drafting and delivering a message.
Creativity
having the ability to craft interesting messages in terms of sentence structured and word choice
Conciseness
simplicity and directness
Cultural Sensitivity
with the increasing emphasis on diverse cultures, lifestyles, and races and the pursuit for gender equality, this becomes an important standard for effective communication
Captivating
making messages interesting to command more attention and better responses
Communication ethics
deals with the moral good present in any form of human communication – including interpersonal communication, mass mediated communication, and digital communication.
