Plumbing Fixture Quality
Fixtures must be made of dense, durable, non-absorbent materials with smooth, impervious surfaces and acid-resistant porcelain enamel.
Fixture Classification
Plumbing fixtures are categorized into three main types: Soil, Scullery, and Bathing.
Water Closet Setting (Wall)
A water closet must be set 0.375meter from its center to any side wall.
Water Closet Setting (Fixture)
A water closet must be set 0.75meter center to center to any similar fixture.
Direct Flush Valve
A valve that allows flushing action to be obtained directly through a connection into the bowl without a tank.
High Tank
A type of flush tank where the tank is located high above the toilet bowl.
Close coupled
A water closet design where the flush tank and toilet bowl are separate pieces joined together.
One piece
A water closet design where the tank and bowl are manufactured as a single integrated unit.
Washdown
A water closet flushing action characterized by a water area of 8inches×10inches and a 2.5inches deep seal.
Siphon jet
A water closet flushing action characterized by a water area of 12inches×14inches and a 3inches deep seal.
Reverse trap
A water closet flushing action characterized by a water area of 9inches×10inches and a 3inches deep seal.
Siphon vortex
A water closet flushing action characterized by a water area of 11inches×13inches and a 3inches deep seal.
Elongated Toilet
A water closet shape designed with a longer bowl compared to the Regular Round type.
Prohibited Fixtures
Include Pan, washout, and valve plunger offset; water closets with reversible seats; Long Hopper; Latrine; Trough Urinals; and Dry or Chemical Closets.
Urinal Setting (Wall)
Must be set 0.3meter from its center to any sidewall.
Urinal Setting (Fixture)
Must be set 0.6meter center to center from similar fixtures.
Flushometer valve
A self-closing type valve that discharges a predetermined quantity of water; prohibited from manual control for group urinals.
Recessed / Built in Bathtub
A bathtub that is permanently attached or built into the walls and floor of the bathroom.
Combination Waste and Overflow
A bathtub drain fitting that manages both the primary waste and the safety overflow.
Bidet Setting
Must be set 0.375meter from its center to any side wall or 0.75meter center to center to any similar fixture.
Floor Drain Outlet Size
The minimum outlet size of a floor drain shall be 2inches.
Floor Drain Strainer Area
The combined free area of the holes in the strainer must equal the size of the drain outlet.
Floor Drain Trap Seal
The trap must be a deep seal with a minimum of 3inches trap seal.
Backwater valve
Equipment required for floor drains installed below ground level.
Shower Receptor Slope
The receptor floor shall drain with a slope of not less than 2% and not more than 4%.
Shower Threshold
The threshold shall accommodate a door with a minimum width of 559mm.
Shower Compartment Area
The minimum interior area shall be 0.60sq.m and must encompass a 762mm diameter circle.
Shower Compartment Height
The area shall maintain a height of 1.78m above the shower drain.
Gang Shower Drain Spacing
Drains for gang showers must be spaced 4.9m apart.
