Social Sciences
The study of humans as individuals and members of society, their behavior and character, the history and evolution of social institutions, the organization and development of society, and the setting and environment of human institutions and their interactions.
Basic Social Science
A branch that deals with theoretical frameworks, perspectives, theories, and experimental work to investigate or confirm hypotheses and theories explaining different social phenomena.
Applied Social Sciences
The use of social science theories and methods to address day-to-day real world personal and social issues in the practical sense.
Disciplines of Social Sciences
Currently includes anthropology, economics, sociology, political science, history, criminology, psychology, geography, and communication studies.
Counseling
One of the three major disciplines in the applied social sciences identified in the course.
Social Work
One of the three major disciplines in the applied social sciences focused on addressing real-world issues.
Communication
One of the three major disciplines in the applied social sciences along with counseling and social work.
