Scientific Method
A step-by-step process used to investigate observations, solve problems, and test hypotheses.
Hypothesis
A testable prediction based on prior knowledge and observation.
Independent Variable
The variable that is changed or controlled in a scientific experiment.
Dependent Variable
The variable being tested and measured in an experiment.
Controlled Variables
To ensure that the results are due to the independent variable, not other factors.
Repeated Trials
To increase the reliability and accuracy of results.
Qualitative Data
Descriptive data that is observed but not measured, such as colors or textures.
Quantitative Data
Numerical data that can be measured, such as length, volume, or temperature.
Peer Review
It ensures the validity, reliability, and quality of scientific work.
Evaluate an Experiment
To assess the method, results, and conclusions for reliability and improvements.
