Frequency Table
Lists the elements in the sample space (the categories) and the frequency in which they occur
Pictograph
A graph that uses pictures to represent numerical information
Mode
The category or the element in the sample space that has the most data
Bar Graph
A graph where the frequency of each item in a sample space is represented by a rectangular bar
Pareto Graph
A bar graph where the bars are arranged in descending order
Circular Graph (Pie Graph)
A circular graph divided into wedges. Each wedge represents a portion a population or sample
Dot Plot
A graph where dots are stacked vertically to represent each data entries
Axis
Where your labels go
Stem and Leaf Plot
A graph that splits a number into two parts called a stem and a leaf
Split Stem and Leaf Plot Graph
The stem is listed twice when there is a large amount of data
Box Plot Graph
A graph that uses a box to signify the middle 50% of the data and lines extended from the box to represent the lower and upper 25% of data
Interquartile Range (IQR)
Measures the variance of a data set (the range of the box in your box plot)
Outlier
Odd one out
Histogram Graph
A bar graph with bars that are connected. The bars are connected because each bar represents groups of data
Variance
Like an average
Standard Deviation
The square root of the variance. More meaningful in finding the spread of the data
Chebyshev's Theorem
For any data set, population or sample, and for any constant, k, greater than 1, the proportion of the data that must lie within k, standard deviations on either side of the mean is at least 1-1/k².
Coefficient of Variation (CV)
A measure that is used when we do not know much about the data sets or when the data sets have different units of measure
