Transnational Terrorism

The intentional use of violence outside of a country's borders to cause fear and intimidation in others to achieve political and social objectives rooted in certain ideologies.

Non-traditional Security Concerns

Concerns such as food, water, and energy security that arise as countries become more interconnected and interdependent.

Self-radicalisation

A process where individuals become influenced by extreme ideologies and operate on their own with little to no instruction or join a terrorist organisation.

Cyber Threats

The unauthorised access to online information systems and data, made more prevalent by the advancement of technology and digital connectedness.

National Security

The protection of citizens and confidential information from threats.

Physical Resource and Infrastructure

Facilities such as housing, businesses, defense HQ, hospital facilities, and transport networks that society needs to function smoothly.

Website Defacement

A cyber threat involving a change in the appearance or content of a webpage to spread falsehoods and mislead people.

Phishing

The act of acquiring sensitive data through fake emails and malicious links while pretending to be a business or trusted entity.

Malware Infection

A threat that affects the ability of computers or systems to function, such as a virus.

Ransomware

A type of malware that prevents users from accessing computer systems unless a ransom is paid.

Internal Security Act

A law that enables the government to act decisively and swiftly against terrorist threats by allowing investigations and preventive detentions.

INTERPOL

An inter-governmental organization with $195$ members that facilitates the transfer of intelligence on terrorist activities.

"Our Eyes" Initiative

A $2018$ ASEAN initiative focused on sharing terrorism and radicalism information to combat security threats.

NISC Japan

The National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity, which collaborates with other governments to raise information security in all government agencies.

The act of gathering information of political and military value to enhance a country's own security.
