Nominal

Those which can be named, but not quantified.

Ordinal

Categories that can be ordered/ranked.

Interval

Categorizes and orders data but also defines the difference between values. Unlike ordinal data, interval data has no true zero point.

Ratio

Similar to interval data, but it has a true zero point.

Population

The entire group you want to draw conclusions about (N)

Sample

The specific group that you will collect data from (n)

Parameter

a measure that describes the whole population (estimated)

Statistic

a measure that describes the sample (computed)

Sampling error

Difference between value of a population parameter and value of sample statistic, can reduce by increasing sample size.

Quantitative

Discrete - can be counted

Continuous - measured

Qualitative

Categorical - non-numerical
