Vertical Rectangle signs
Generally used for regulatory signs, which tell you what you must do.
Horizontal Rectangle signs
Generally used as guide signs showing locations, directions, or other special information.
Triangle signs
Mean yield; you must slow down to a reasonable speed and stop if necessary.
Octagon
An eight-sided shape that always means stop.
Diamond shaped signs
Warn of existing or possible hazards on roadways or adjacent areas.
Round sign
Indicates you are approaching a railroad crossing.
Pentagon shaped signs
Mean you are approaching a school zone and/or school crossing.
Regulatory signs
Tell drivers what they may or may not do.
Red circle with a red slash
Means 'No'; the picture within the circle shows what is prohibited.
One-way road
A sign indicating that traffic is coming toward you.

No U-turn at intersection
A sign indicating that you cannot turn around to go in the opposite direction at this intersection.

No right turn at intersection
A sign indicating that you cannot make a right turn at this intersection.

Maximum speed limit

Reduced speed limit
A sign indicating you are approaching an area where a reduced speed limit has been established.

School zone
A sign indicating you are approaching a school zone where a reduced speed limit is in effect.
