What is a questionnaire?
A research method involving a list of written questions, typically designed to be answered by respondents themselves.
What type of data can observation produce?
Both quantitative and qualitative.
Strengths of questionnaires
Relatively cheap and quick so larger numbers can be completed - more representative.
All respondents answer same questions, so answers can be quantified and used to identify trends and patterns.
Answers are anonymous - more valid, people more likely to be honest.
Weaknesses of questionnaires
Many respondents may not answer questionnaire. Low response rates affect representativeness.
Pre-set questions, so answers less likely to be detailed and valid.
Respondents cannot explain answers.
