Indigenous
Originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native.
Stewardship
The job of supervising or taking care of something, such as an organization or property.
Entrenched
Of an attitude, habit, or belief that is firmly established and difficult or unlikely to change.
Remuneration
Money paid for work or a service.
Glass ceiling
An unacknowledged barrier to advancement in a profession, especially affecting women and members of minorities.
Serendipitous
Occurring or discovered by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
Proprietor
The owner of a business or a holder of property.
Bibliophilic
Describing a person who collects or has a great love of books.
Microaggression
A statement, action, or incident regarded as an instance of indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a marginalized group.
Disproportionately
To an extent that is too large or too small in comparison with something else.
Dilemma
A situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones.
Attrition
The action or process of gradually reducing the strength or effectiveness of someone or something through sustained attack or pressure.
Confounding variable
In statistics, an outside influence that changes the effect of a dependent and independent variable.
Myokines
Cytokines or other peptides that are synthesized and released by muscle fibers during muscular contractions.
Pathogenesis
The manner of development of a disease.
Psychopharmacological
Relating to the study of the effects of drugs on the mind and behavior.
Non-invasive
Of medical procedures that do not involve the introduction of instruments into the body.
Pedagogical
Relating to the methods and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept.
Algorithm-driven
Determined or influenced by a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer.
Neuroplastic
The ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury.
Photovoltaic
Relating to the production of electric current at the junction of two substances exposed to light.
Maladaptive
Not providing adequate or appropriate adjustment to the environment or situation.
Walkability
A measure of how friendly an area is to walking.
Hydroelectric storage
A type of hydroelectric energy storage used by electric power systems for load balancing.
Decarbonisation
The reduction of carbon, specifically the conversion of an economic system or sector to consume and emit less carbon dioxide.
Sedentary
Of a person tending to spend much time seated; somewhat inactive.
Socioeconomic
Relating to or concerned with the interaction of social and economic factors.
Unprecedented
Never done or known before.
Epidemiological
Relating to the branch of medicine which deals with the incidence, distribution, and possible control of diseases and other factors relating to health.
Limbic
Relating to the system of nerves and networks in the brain, involving several areas near the edge of the cortex concerned with instinct and mood.
