fundamental attribution error

the tendency to overestimate an individual's behavior based on their personal characteristics, attitudes, or beliefs and disregard the influence of the surrounding situation on that behavior (e.g., financial or social pressures).

actor/observer bias

explain our own negative behaviors with external factors while the same behavior in others as internal factors.

halo effect

cognitive bias where positive impression in one specific area influences opinions in unrelated areas.

self-serving bias

attributes our success to dispositional (internal) factors and our failures to situational (external) factors.

People may avoid effort in the hopes of keeping potential failure from hurting self-esteem.

Self-Effacing / Modesty bias

Positive behavior due to external factors and negative behavior due to internal factors and negative behavior due to internal factors.
