It is a wireless technique that uses two or more antennas at different physical locations to improve signal reliability. By separating the antennas, the system ensures that at least one receives a strong, clear signal, effectively overcoming multipath interference and signal fading.

A configuration in microwave communication is a 1+1 hardware redundancy setup where two complete sets of transceivers share the same antenna. One transceiver is actively transmitting traffic (Active), while the other is kept powered on but muted (Standby).
