What does Islam mean?
Submission to the will of Allah.
What is Tawhid?
Belief in the absolute oneness of Allah. Quote: “He is Allah, One.” — Qur'an 112:1
What does omnipotent mean?
All-powerful.
What does transcendent mean?
Allah is beyond and independent from creation.
What does immanent mean?
Allah is present and active within creation.
What is Adalat?
Divine justice; particularly important in Shi'a Islam.
What are the Six Articles of Faith?
Belief in Allah, angels, holy books, prophets, Day of Judgement and predestination.
What are angels?
Spiritual beings created by Allah who carry out His commands.
Who is Jibril?
The angel who delivered Allah's revelation to Muhammad.
What is Risalah?
The belief that Allah communicates His will through prophets.
Who is Muhammad?
The final prophet of Islam.
What is the Qur'an?
The holy book of Islam, believed to be the revealed word of Allah.
What are holy books in Islam?
Books believed to contain Allah's revelations, including the Qur'an, Torah, Psalms and Gospel.
What is predestination?
The belief that Allah has knowledge and control over what happens.
What is human free will?
The ability of humans to make choices for which they are responsible.
What is Akhirah?
Life after death.
What is the Day of Judgement?
The day when Allah judges people for their actions.
What is Jannah?
Paradise; the reward for those judged worthy.
What is Jahannam?
Hell; punishment for those who reject Allah or live wickedly.
What is resurrection in Islam?
The belief that the dead will be raised on the Day of Judgement.
What is shirk?
Associating anything with Allah or giving anything the status that belongs only to Allah.
Why is shirk considered a major sin?
It contradicts Tawhid, the belief in Allah's absolute oneness.
